How is everyone doing today? I was having a good day till i heard some terrible news in the cycling world. So i wanted to talk a little about it.

Yesterday on June 2, 2008 there was a terrible accident involving a head on collision of a car into a group of cyclist. The cyclist were in a 34k race from Brownsville, Tx. to Matamoros, Mexico. They were only 15 minutes into the race when, driver Juan Campus, 28, drunk and asleep "ploughed" into the cyclist in the race. Campus was charged with murder of Alejandro Alvarez, 37. Supposedly the Campus claims he is an American citizen driving to Brownsville when the incident took place. The U.S. consulate has not  yet confirmed that.  They say

"We are looking into the incident in terms of whether American citizens were involved,"

                                                                            -consulate spokesman Todd Huizinga said.

10 were injured in the wreck and none survived with out injury.

As a cyclist i am very disturbed that something like this would happen, but all that we can say, if Campus truly did fall asleep is that it was accident, but the fact that he was drunk was inertly unacceptable, and he should get the death penalty immediately.
