So Parker, Nathan, and I went down to Florida for about 2 weeks, and did the Florida state road race. We also meet up with Mikey, he lives in Gainesville.

We ended up staying at Nathan's moms house in Tampa for most of the trip, and the other times we stayed at Mikey's. Mikey's was really cool, we had basically had or own house, with a full bath, two beds, a tv, and a mini fridge. Nathan's mom was in the hood on the other hand. hahaha it was cool, kinda scary the first night but after that it was fun, parker, mikey, and i drove around all day getting pictures of the hood, well actually the people of the hood, hahaha.

Well now its summer, and its time for nationals trainning. Which means 4 days a-week on the track, 2-times a day. yea  its going to be a blast :(  hahahaha, hey look on the up side im losing weight. Getting ready for nationals have to get down to my fighting weight, which im shooting for 160 but once there i would like to get to 150, then ill be ready.

How is everyone doing today? I was having a good day till i heard some terrible news in the cycling world. So i wanted to talk a little about it.

Yesterday on June 2, 2008 there was a terrible accident involving a head on collision of a car into a group of cyclist. The cyclist were in a 34k race from Brownsville, Tx. to Matamoros, Mexico. They were only 15 minutes into the race when, driver Juan Campus, 28, drunk and asleep "ploughed" into the cyclist in the race. Campus was charged with murder of Alejandro Alvarez, 37. Supposedly the Campus claims he is an American citizen driving to Brownsville when the incident took place. The U.S. consulate has not  yet confirmed that.  They say

"We are looking into the incident in terms of whether American citizens were involved,"

                                                                            -consulate spokesman Todd Huizinga said.

10 were injured in the wreck and none survived with out injury.

As a cyclist i am very disturbed that something like this would happen, but all that we can say, if Campus truly did fall asleep is that it was accident, but the fact that he was drunk was inertly unacceptable, and he should get the death penalty immediately.

Ok so pictures are off to a bad start still trying to transfer all of them from one computer to another and no its not as easy as an email its to big.

Anyways i thought i would just talk about the last weekend and this weekend. Gary Glickman, GS Tenzing, and State Crit all sucked in the aspected of the 4's but juniors wasn't to bad. 3 days, 6 races, 6 starts, 3 finishs, 2 crashes, 2 broken chains,  1 bent derailleur hanger, and 2 top 5. I guess you could say i had a bad weekend. haha. But hey it was fun, and that's all that matters right....wrong that is wrong, wrong, wrong especially when you have a sponsor breathing down your neck saying "DONT SUCK" haha thanks Clarence.  But yea, hey you win some you loose alot haha, i tried.

This weekend was Tulsa Tough and well it was more than tough, see i just got my upgrade to a CAT 3 so these races were my first as a CAT 3. I got pulled from each  race it sucked i got a little pissy but soon got over. So i could cheer on the rest of the gang in their races. The girls did really well this weekend, Peter pulled away with a 4th place on Sunday, and Nathan "stole" Ronney Strange's prime on Saturday for $100. hahaha. hey that's from Ronney himself. Parker finished every race this weekend which was differen't from last year were he pulled one of mine and go pulled from every race. So awesome job to him. This was also Rachel's first weekend as a 2 and she only got pulled from Sunday's race, and that one is the hardest. i think over all it was a weekend of fun, the boys got to stay at this ladies house for the weekend. Thank you very much Marlene if that's how you spell it.  haha. It was a huge house with lots of more and it was very comfortable for the 8 of us haha.

Well that's about it for the weekend's up next is Florida we leave on wensday right after my exam, cant wait to see Nathan's family, haha. We will be doing some stage race and the States Championships, it should be a fun time. After that back home then off to AT&T crit in Austin or maybe if Nathan let's me to Houston for a Track Cup. either way it will be rad.

Racing and more Racing

Last weekend was Mineral Well's and it was a good race, I raced the juniors and Day 1 was insanely easy. We only averaged 18mph. So it came down to a sprint finish, and the funniest thing happened with about 2miles to go a kid tried to break away and with nothing around on his own he flipped over his bike and landed on his head, it was so funny. But anyways with about 200m to go i sprint off and won by a couple of seconds. Day 2 was a lot harder we averaged 21 so we picked it up a little. The climb was crazy too thats were i got dropped but there were only two up the road and every one else was dropped way off the back. When i came to the top of the climb i kicked it up a gear and tried as hard as i could to try and catch them before the finish. I ended up third, not to bad though a 1st and a 3rd.
This weekend was Rocky Mount stage race in Louisianna, this aswell was a good weekend. The road race was on Saturday, and it was a lot of fun but hard, i raced the 4's. It was a 54 mile race with a brutly last hill, the race up until that point was pretty easy it was an attack fest though, which was stupid. But when we came to the top of the hill one guy attacked which is what i was waiting for sort of, but i had some shifting problems when he attacked. This kind of paosed me a little, but i didn't worry about it and just standed in the gear i was in, but that little pause caused me to loose out on finishing top 5, but i was able to hold on to 7th. The time trial was later that day, i was really tired but ready to give it my all and gain as much time as possible. The time trial was straight into the wind then the way back was a tail wind the whole way. It was a 4 mile time trial and i rode a 10:09 which is really embarassing but hey im not the time trial type, so i wasn't that disappointed. I was really waiting for the crit the next day, and man was i ready. The crit had a break in it about half way through and i wasn't sure if i was going to go with it or not, but i did anyway. Luckily it stuck to the end and it ended up being a sprint finish. We came aroung the last corner and the sprint was on. I was tied for third going into the sprint, and i kind of got boxed by that guy well not really but i got pushed into the outside corner and there was a guy in front of me, so i had to move quickly get around them, once i got passed them two there was only one more guy to get. I was in my smallest gear but i just couldn't go any fast. I mean i caught up to him but i couldn't pass him in time. So i ended up second and 6th overall. So i guess i couldn't say it was a good weekend.
